- more than 120 entities from 52 countries, grouped in 42 joint research units or national grid initiatives, which are organised in regional federations: Southwest Europe (Spain and Portugal) Asia-Pacific, Benelux, Central Europe, France Germany/Switzerland, Italy, Scandinavia, Southeast Europe, Russia, United Kingdom/Ireland and the United States.
The project co-ordinator is the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN). Spain will participate through the JRU (Joint Research Unit) called ES-GRID, which forms part of the South West Europe Federation (SWE).
The Institute for High Energy Physics (IFAE) will be co-ordinating the Spanish JRU, ES-GRID. RedIRIS is a member of ES-GRID, together with other Spanish academic and research centres: CSIC (Spanish National Research Council), CIEMAT (Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology), CESGA (Galician Supercomputing Technological Centre Foundation), UCM (Complutense University of Madrid), UPV (Polytechnic University of Valencia) and UNIZAR (University of Zaragoza).
